Too Much TV: Your TV Talking Points For Wednesday, October 9th, 2024
I realize it's pointless to complain about this...but
Here's everything you need to know about the world of television for Wednesday, October 9th, 2024:
PRODUCTION NOTES
This newsletter is still a bit shorter than normal. I haven't quite been able to shake whatever bug I managed to catch and it is driving a workaholic like me a bit nuts....
I REALIZE IT'S POINTLESS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS...BUT
I've written before about how frustrating it is to cover Netflix programming while at the same time competing with the streamer's in-house news outlet, Tudum.com. Their site frequently gets news and exclusives ahead of every other journalist, which becomes one more challenge in an industry where journalists are dropping faster than infantry soldiers during WWI trench warfare.
But when I received info about an upcoming holiday movie, it was especially thrilling to see quotes from Tudum's piece, which included quotes from cast members. And it was published ahead of any notification about the film going out to the rest of the press. Sigh.
WILL THERE BE ANOTHER PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE?
Fox News has invited both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris to participate in a second debate at the end of October. The network has offered the candidates the opportunity to debate each other in Pennsylvania on two potential dates: Thursday, October 24th or Sunday, October 27th. Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum would moderate the proposed debate.
CNN has offered to host another debate on October 23rd — with the Harris campaign accepting the offer. On Tuesday, the network sent a letter notifying both campaigns that the deadline for them to accept the offer would be this Thursday.
While the campaign hasn't officially responded to Fox's offer, based on this recent Truth Social message from Donald Trump (which was almost certainly written by him), I'm guessing the answer is "no."

Happy to hear the news about Nate Bargatze. Usually I am very late on comedians, but he was one of the few I saw early on in his career and I was immediately hooked. Seems like a great guy, to boot. And now he's hosted SNL twice! Wild.
Oh! So the reason people hate DIsney has nothing to do with their films and TV shows....
