German ‘Ghosts’ Remake Goes Into Production At ARD/WDR (Deadline)
There will soon be sightings of Ghosts in Germany. BBC Studios has confirmed production of a German-language version of the sitcom, which has been a hit for the BBC in the UK and CBS in the States. German pubcaster WDR and streamer ARD Mediathek have commissioned a six-part series, with Erik Haffner directing and BBC Studios Germany producing its first in-house production.
Nova Completes Set Of UEFA Club Competition Rights In Czech Republic (Sportcal)
Nova, the Central European pay-TV broadcaster, has retained rights to European club soccer’s top-tier UEFA Champions League (UCL) in the Czech Republic. The broadcaster will cover up to six fixtures per match day from the expanded competition across the 2024-25 to 2026-27 cycle. In addition to live games, the tie-up with European soccer’s governing body UEFA also covers highlights clips online and on social media.

Nordic streamer Viaplay Group has secured vital exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League in Denmark and Sweden with a new three-year deal starting next season. In Sweden, Viaplay took over the exclusive rights from Telia/TV4, while Norway’s national broadcaster, TV2, secured Champions League rights back in April.

BBC Studios has announced that its British drama channel BBC First is now available in Czech Republic through T-Mobile and O2, and in Slovakia through Slovak Telekom. The BBC First brand debuted in Czech Republic and Slovakia as an SVoD collection via T-Mobile and Slovak Telekom back in November 2023.
Amazon Falls Foul Of Ofcom Code For First Time (Deadline)
Amazon has fallen foul of Ofcom’s code in the UK for the first time. In a move that could become a more regular occurrence under the new Media Bill, which passed two weeks ago, streamer Prime Video was found in breach of the part of the code that prohibits harmful content on what Ofcom calls on-demand programme services (ODPS).

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has dipped into the acquisitions market for European drama series The Crimson Rivers. The licensing deal with ZDF Studios is for all four seasons of the show, comprising 32 episodes in total, for French-speaking territories and Belgium.
