BBC News presenters have been told that they can relax their formal dress code in the pursuit of more authentic reporting as the broadcaster seeks to reinvent its 24-hour news channel.
Naja Nielsen, BBC News’ Director of Digital, told staff last week that the more rugged “sweaty and dirty” look certain journalists adopt when away from the studio can be more trustworthy.
Analysis: SVoDs Set For $8.5bn Sports Rights Spend (Advanced-Television)
Subscription OTT services’ spend on sports rights globally will reach $8.5 billion (€7.9bn) in 2023, a 64 per cent increase compared to 2022, according to a report from Ampere Analysis analyzing the role of sports in the streaming wars.

The latest report from Media Partners Asia, “SEA Online Video Consumer Insights & Analytics” shows 48.4 million paid online video subscriptions at the end of 2022 in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. The full year saw 11.8 million net new customers, with 7.3 million of that total coming in the second half, including 4.6 million in the fourth quarter. Indonesia accounted for half of the increase.
Nippon TV Strikes Deal With Netflix To Produce Comedy Series ‘Ariyoshi Assists’ (Deadline)
Japanese broadcaster Nippon TV has finalized a deal with Netflix to produce ten-part unscripted comedy series Ariyoshi Assists. The deal marks the first time that Nippon TV has produced a show exclusively for a global streamer that it will not broadcast or stream on its own platforms.
