Streamers Set For Major European Spending Landmark In 2024 – Ampere Research (Deadline)
Streamer spend in Europe is set to overtake public and commercial broadcasters this year for the first time, topping €10B ($10.6B), according to new research from Ampere Analysis. In 2023, spend by streamers, PSBs and commercial nets was virtually neck-and-neck in the continent at around €8B each but a gap is set to emerge by the end of 2024. Broadcaster spend will remain virtually flat while streamer investment will shoot up by a whopping 20%, Ampere said.
MultiChoice Nigeria Challenges Regulator’s ₦150 Million Penalty (Innovation Village)
On Friday, MultiChoice Nigeria, a subsidiary of the South African pay-TV operator, publicly declared its plan to challenge the verdict handed down by the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal in Abuja. The company expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that the tribunal had violated its right to a fair hearing.

Vodafone Idea has rolled out new special OTT bundled plans for cricket and football fans with Disney+ Hotstar and Sony LIV. These include a Rs 169 plan, allowing Vi users to enjoy a Disney+ Hotstar Mobile subscription for three months plus 8GB of data with a validity of 30 days.

Vaishnaw replaces Anurag Thakur, who does not find a cabinet berth this time around. More than 33 million Brits will head to the pub to watch England play in the Euro 2024 tournament this summer, according to research by Indeed Flex, the online marketplace for temporary work. With the tournament kicking off on June 14th when Scotland take on tournament hosts Germany, the survey reveals that nearly half of the UK’s sports fans (49 per cent) plan to watch as many matches as they can during the month-long competition.

Indonesia's content platforms and government agencies have upped their efforts in the fight against content piracy conducted through the Telegram messaging application. Among some of the pirated titles were from Indonesia’s top streaming platform Vidio, including Ratu Adil starring Dian Sastrowardoyo, Love Ice Cream, Merajut Dendam and Pertaruhan‘s second season.
BeIN To Cover All Euro 2024, 2028 Games As French Rights Finally Sorted (Sportcal)
BeIN Sports, the Qatar-based international sports broadcaster, has secured full rights in France to the 2024 and 2028 men’s UEFA European Championships national team soccer tournaments. This represents an eleventh-hour deal for the 2024 tournament, which runs in Germany between June 14 and July 14 and for which France are considered one of the favorites. For the upcoming event, BeIN will cover all 51 games, 26 of them exclusively.

PCB Puts International Media Rights Through 2026 Out To Tender (Sportcal)
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched an international media rights tender covering home international series through to December 2026. The tender includes broadcast TV, digital, audio, online, and mobile rights, to all home series’ played by Pakistan senior national teams during that time. There are 14 men’s series’ currently scheduled for the next two and a half years, starting in August with the visit of Bangladesh for two tests.
