Nominations are being revealed Monday for the 80th annual Golden Globe Awards, with George and Mayan Lopez of NBC’s Lopez vs. Lopez emceeing for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. A total of 27 movie and TV categories will be unveiled this morning, with winners to be announced January 10th.
Director Mariano Barroso To Lead Film For Netflix In Spain And Portugal (Screen Daily)
The Spanish film director, screenwriter and producer is a winner of three Goya awards, and was president of the Film Academy in Spain from 2018 to 2022.
Barroso won the best new director prize in 1993 for Mi Hermano Del Alma, the best documentary film prize in 2007 for Invisibles and the best adapted screenplay award for Todas Las Mujeres in 2013.
CNN Trainees Descend On Abu Dhabi Movie Set For Breaking News Simulation (Variety)
CNN for the first time brought 88 participants from its CNN Academy programs around the world together for an intensive week-long training during which a breaking-news situation was replicated so they could report on a fictitious developing story in what CNN described in a statement as a “safe to fail” environment. The simulation saw CNN trainees news gathering on a film set on the Kizad backlot of Twofour54 Abu Dhabi.
