It is not an easy task to convince someone to upgrade to a paid Too Much TV subscription since all of the newsletters are free. I suspect you subscribe to many other newsletters and most of them keep the majority of their editions behind a paywall. And this theory is the underpinning of Capitalism. I create something you want and I don’t give it to you until I get some of your money.
But because I am bad at being a Capitalist and also, because I believe I have a unique point of view that needs as wide a distribution as possible, every edition is free. I could write more things to offer paid subscribers. But to be honest, writing five 1,200-word plus newsletters a week plus writing pieces for the web site is already more than a reasonable person with any hopes of a normal family life would attempt.
But here I am suggesting that if you can, I would appreciate you considering an upgrade to a paid subscription. Thanks to a kind donor, every subscription made by the end of the day on the 15th will be matched 100 percent. Which is obviously a helpful thing for me.
And if you subscribe now, you’ll receive a 30 percent discount for as long as you continue to subscribe. Based on the first several years of Too Much TV, I can tell you that about 90 percent of those people who do opt for an annual subscription end up continuing their subscription. So this is a discount that keeps on giving.
My subscribers frequently say they appreciate the unique point of view of the newsletter as well as the program listings and suggestions about what is worth watching.

But they also want to support a small, independent media outlet and that means a lot. I’ll be headed to the TCAs next month and other industry trips are in the works as well. And I’ll continue to bring a unique perspective to my coverage, which includes a lot of reporting you won’t see elsewhere. All of that is possible thanks to your support.
When you become a subscriber, this is the mission you are supporting. I hope you’ll join us.
Have a great weekend and Happy Father’s Day to all of the fathers and father figures in our lives.
Rick
