Too Much TV: Your TV Talking Points For Wednesday, May 6th, 2020
Here's everything you need to know about the world of television for Wednesday, May 6th, 2020. I'm writing this from the Twin Cities, where AllYourScreens HQ is powered by coffee and Tylenol.
I'm feeling a bit under the weather today, so this is an abbreviated newsletter. Back to normal length tomorrow...
Here is a rundown of the new shows premiering today....
1) Becoming (Netflix)
Becoming is an intimate look into the life of former First Lady Michelle Obama during a moment of profound change, not only for her personally but for the country she and her husband served over eight impactful years in the White House. The film offers a rare and up-close look at her life, taking viewers behind the scenes as she embarks on a 34-city tour that highlights the power of community to bridge our divides and the spirit of connection that comes when we openly and honestly share our stories. Which sounds pretty impressive for a book tour.
2) Brockmire Series Finale (IFC)
Brockmire follows Jim Brockmire (Hank Azaria), a famed major league baseball announcer who suffered a notorious public breakdown after stumbling upon his wife’s (Katie Finneran) infidelity – a breakdown so bad that "Brutal Brockmire" became a viral internet meme. In Season 4, it’s 15 years into the dystopian future and Brockmire is now the Commissioner of baseball as the once legendary baseball announcer is now back on top and his struggles with sobriety are behind him. However, at this later stage of his life he is tasked with saving America's pastime as the world around him descends into chaos, all while trying to salvage his relationship with his newfound daughter (Reina Hardesty) and rekindle the love he once had for Jules (Amanda Peet).
3) Guy's Grocery Games: Mother Of All Shows
Guy enlists the help of his mom, Penny, and his wife, Lori, in his Mother's Day Games featuring mom/kid teams who run family restaurants together.
4) Workin' Moms Season Four Premiere (Netflix)
Four new working mothers and friends deal with the struggles and nuttiness of returning to work while trying to balance their family and love lives.
