Over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to try a few chat posts and see what kind of interaction they receive. Any subscriber to the newsletter can answer and paid subscribers can start a new thread.
In this thread, I’m interested in feedback about the newsletter. It’s five long-ish newsletters a week. And it both feels like that’s too much and at the same time, I sometimes don’t have enough room for everything I should be covering.
I’m considering dropping the “what’s new on TV” section at the bottom, partly for space and partly because a lot of you read the newsletter the next day.
What’s your feedback? What do you like or dislike about the newsletter?
I just wanted to write and say that I am a BIG fan of the "what's new on TV" section and would be very sad to see it go. It's an easy section to skip if you're not interested in reading it. I have found it surprisingly difficult to obtain a daily list of new television and this is the one place where I consistently get that information in my inbox.
Love the newsletters, Rick. They’re a good length. For me personally, I usually skip the last part about the premiere dates because if there’s a show that I’m interested in, I can easily find what date it’s coming back. So if it’s gonna help you with the workload, I would get rid of it. But I also see why some others like it.
Thanks for the feedback. It's not really any extra work. I have a large list on the web site that I update a couple of times a day and I just copy the day's listings over from that master list.
Thanks, Lisa. It can sometimes be hard to judge people's reaction. I have some sense of how things are going, in that the subscriber numbers continue to grow and my unsubscribe rate is super low. But it's helpful to hear you enjoy it.
Love the newsletter, although I have a hard time keeping up with 5 posts a week. They're always informative, though. I like the what's new on TV part, even if it doesn't always apply to where I live (which is Brazil). Keep up the good work!
Great newsletter. Very insightful into the business. I enjoy reading about behind the scenes machinations. The what’s on TV can be helpful. I usually know what’s coming but there are often shows i hadn’t heard of that are on your list.
It is a great newletter. The length seems about right. Like the "what's new on TV" section. With the upfronts coming up, maybe a "breaking news" e-mail about the new programming, cancelations, etc. Otherwise, love it.
Marianne--I've thought about that. I just haven't been able to figure out the best format. Plus, I'm already doing the afternoon newsletter plus a M-F global TV links newsletter in the mornings. And I don't want to take on more without knowing I can do it every day.
For a frequently-updated list of what's coming out on TV & streaming, I find Metacritic's TV Premiere Calendar very helpful (especially since it links to reviews). https://www.metacritic.com/feature/tv-premiere-dates
The list does include a lot of streaming movies, though, which makes the list a bit longer than I'd like.
I have a really long list on the web site similar to the one Metacritic has, but since it runs through next year, it's really long. I do post a list of the upcoming week's premieres as a stand-alone piece on the web site (here's this weeks: https://www.allyourscreens.com/en/component/k2/item/3422-tv-premieres-the-week-of-03-19-2023-03-25-2023), so maybe I should link to that page in the newsletter on Mondays. Thanks for your support.
The newsletter is excellent the way it is now...I would really miss the "what's new on TV" section....please keep it.

Max. Thanks for the feedback. I'll happy to keep it in, I was just concerned that it wasn't useful, given the time it goes out. FWIW, I also post a weekly look at what's coming up https://www.allyourscreens.com/en/component/k2/item/3422-tv-premieres-the-week-of-03-19-2023-03-25-2023 (here's this week's). I also post a daily update of new episodes on linear TV. This url never changes, I just update it every morning: https://www.allyourscreens.com/en/layout

I really enjoy the newsletter. The more the better

I really like the newsletter as is, so I wouldn't change anything, but it would be ok with me if it was 3x per week instead of 5x per week.
LOL! Some days it would be okay with me as well.

Not biased because I'm his son, but I wouldn't really mind which option he chose
And that's why you are my favorite son.
