Even when I did TV writing/criticism, I was never high level enough to go to Press Tour. But, I was on Twitter for as many panels as I could taking in the coverage from others.

It makes me sad to see something I like going away. Even if the industry is changing. I just hope John Landgraf still does wide-ranging interviews with multiple journalists.

I'm a TCA member who joined at the end of 2024 and also kind of a unicorn situation where I've leveraged Instagram (@tvscholar) in my coverage of television — it's discouraging that I may not have the opportunity to ever attend one of these press tours. I did feel somewhat of a sigh of relief at not having to travel to the US right now though, given I'm based in Canada.

Yeah, I can understand that travel right now might be a bit scary.

I have really mixed feelings about this. The number of actual people who could be considered "TV critics" has really shrunk in recent years. But some of the most interesting work is being done by journalists outside the LA/NYC nexis. So having the TCA gatherings was helpful for them.

I'm interested to see what happens with the TCA Awards.
