For what it’s worth Rick I think you’re brilliant. I regularly reference you on my much smaller blog. Www.leblanguage.net. Please check it out and comment. I’d love to buy you a coffee to discuss more.

Thanks Steve, that means a lot. Especially when it comes from someone with your background.

As you know from reading my newsletter, I agree with the piece a wrote a few days ago about viewing data. It's not that it's impossible to figure out, it's just a lot of work. And there are incentives on both sides to keep everything as opaque as possible.

My biggest challenge with the newsletter is just getting the word out. I'm working in an industry with a few very big outlets, mostly owned by the same person. I try to take an original path, but it can be hard to break through the industry conventional wisdom.

I'd love to have coffee or lunch the next time I'm in town (I'm assuming you're in the L.A. area?)

Yes. I thought you were too. Name that day and thank you for even noticing I exist. You might even find a story in me ;)

I'll let you know when I come back into town. It's usually every couple of months, depending on what's going on. Plus the TCA stuff, assuming that every happens again. I used to live out there and in the Bay Area. But I moved to the Twin Cities a few years back for family reasons and I like being out of the industry bubble. It can be inconvenient, but it also gives me a helpful perspective.
