Hi Rick - Thanks for all you do here. Great content and insight - definitely worth the subscription! Question... any ideas why the industry doesn’t cover Byron Allen more glowingly, with editorial features, board appointments, profiles? For perhaps the most successful media business leaders (trailing Oprah?), most of the public has no idea who Allen is and how successful and what a pioneer he has been. Maybe he’s a Trump supporter and written off by MSM? Anyway, it is certainly worth your comment in light of Paramount Global bid.

My apologies, somehow I missed this until just now.

I appreciate the compliments about the newsletter, I really try and bring a different perspective to things.

As far as Byron Allen goes, I'm a big admirer of the way he's built his business. He learned about the linear TV business the old-fashioned way when he was hawking his barter original shows to local stations. He's maybe the last of the old-school hustlers that used to be a big part of local TV business.

But because he has an old-school approach and because much of the stuff he's produced is done on the cheap (and often shows it), he doesn't get much respect from the press.

I'm not convinced he has a shot at Paramount Global, but I think his plan to keep the linear assets and sell of the studio and IP is a great business move. Although it's a bit sad to see the Paramount name sold off for parts.

Great insight, once again! I guess I’m just amazed, in a country so focused on race and racial equality, not more attention is given to Byron’s success - v/v other white Hollywood players. That said, I hear you and get your point.

Thanks for the tennis coverage. I'm not that big a fan but am paying attention because I love professional road cycling, a sport badly in need of major changes. If tennis can get its act together, maybe cycling will too

That's an interesting thought, I some surprised road cycling isn't bigger in the U.S. Although maybe it's because there isn't enough violence? (I'm only slightly joking)

There's a lot more violence in cycling than tennis....

The biggest problems are governance and television rights. There's the Tour de France and everything else plus a terrible business model
